The award-winning puppet theatre company iDOLRiCH THEATREROTTO, based in Hastings, East Sussex, was founded by theatre practitioner Julia Dunbar McLean.
Presenting innovative performances for all ages, shows are fully inclusive and tour nationally to theatre venues, festivals and outdoor spaces. The company presents an eclectic multi- media repertoire with various types of puppetry and is known for cutting edge style and narrative, led by a strong sense of the visual. We aim to entertain children, family and adult audiences with our combination of original stories and traditional tales.
Alongside performances, we deliver a raft of puppet making and animating workshops from one-off to longer schemes, which lead on from the creative practice. Using the unique and magical power of puppetry we support educational development and learning in theatre, design, crafting and performance arts.
Our approach has proved that hands-on puppetry training actively works as a positive tool for well-being. We empower participants to develop their own ideas and have found ways to support marginalised and disadvantaged community groups.
The company comprises puppeteers, actors, writers, educationalists, photographers, film-makers, musicians and dancers.
